Introduction to Beading

Welcome to ThreadABead!

I’m Lynsey, the designer and co-owner of ThreadABead.com. For the last 14 years I have been busy designing and beading whatever weird and wonderful ideas my imagination can think of and sharing them with the beading community.

ThreadABead is the culmination of my admiration for the versatility of the delica bead, using simple basic stitches such as Peyote and Brick. Unbelievably the majority of the vast array of designs you will find on ThreadABead mainly use these two stitches, which are two of the most common stitches in beading.

Over the years, I have built up a huge amount of beading knowledge which I would like to share with you. Whether you are a beginner to beading or advanced I am hoping you may just discover information or products that perhaps you hadn’t considered before.

As a disclaimer I will say all the advice and help I give is based on my experience and my preferences when beading my designs. Beading is a wide-ranging hobby encompassing many genres. Tips and advice I give here may not be relevant elsewhere. But if you love ThreadABead designs and want some more help and guidance on how to create them to the best of your ability, you are in the right place.

I passionately believe beading should be fun. I always encourage anyone no matter their ability, to bead what they love rather what they think they can do and be surprised by what you can achieve.

Of course, you may be feeling like you can't possibly bead some of our designs, but I am here to show you that it’s not that difficult when you break everything down into easy to follow sections. A lot of our patterns are very detailed with lots of photos and diagrams and tips to guide you through the project step by step, so that even beginners to beading can create beadwork to be proud of. But remember, if you get stuck, we are only an email away to help guide you through!

So come with me and join in the beading fun!....
