There is something so special about the British sea side, here Lynsey has captured just some of the elements that you can find at so many of the seaside’s along the coast.
Scenes you can discover around the bauble is a striped lighthouse on a rocky patch of the beach giving warning to the boat sailing nearby. A girl with a kite, children playing catch with a beach ball, a sand castle, ice cream seller giving out ice creams, a row of beach huts, deckchair and umbrella. This is all set against a sunny beach scene with the ever present sea gulls swirling around.
The fire polished aquamarine beaded fringe-work along the base of the ornament is an extension of the sea with little beaded ships stitched onto the fringes at random intervals so they appear to be sailing in the ocean.
This bead pattern is made using Japanese Miyuki size 11 Delica beads and peyote or brick stitch can be used. It is assumed the beader will be familiar with either even count peyote. Peyote stitch bead instructions are available free on www.threadabead.com. Please note the pattern may not work with any other size and type of beads.
There are 19 colours in total and the finished beadwork is approximately 6 cm x 3 cm.
1 x 6cm Bauble, 35 x 4mm firepolished aqua, 14 x 6mm firepolished sea green aqua, 14 x 8mm firepolished aqua beads are also required.
The bead pattern supplied is 19 pages and includes a colour chart of suggested delicas, a colour pattern and a numbered coloured pattern.
