Further Information on Beadwork Design

Some of the very first kits that ThreadABead created were our mini beaded books. They have always been very popular but we have never been able to release them as an online pattern due to the process of making the book and the software required to do so. To assemble them was also very time consuming and due to this we have not been able to keep up with demand for suppling the books we already have, so as a result, despite having so many ideas for beaded books, we have never really added to them, but that is no more! Our new style of beaded books come with pre-printed pages so you can make the books yourself. Each book has 28 pages and are simple and quick to make, taking around 3-4 hours to bead and assemble each one. Our ninth book is a much-loved children’s story, Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The story of The Three Bears was first published in 1836 by Robert Southey and did not feature Goldilocks but a Little Old Woman who was quite rude! Additionally, the Three Beads were not Daddy, Mommy and Baby Bear but Great, Huge Bear, Middle Bear and Little, Small, Wee Bear. Over the years there have been quite a few changes to this story, until it has become the story, we all know and love. As the original version is not that suitable for children, Lynsey has adapted the original story to include the newer variations of the story. As usual with ThreadABead featured patterns we give detailed instructions, and, in this pattern there are 28 steps, making this pattern even suitable for beginners to beading. This bead pattern is made using Japanese Miyuki size 11 Delica. Odd Count Peyoye is used but full detailed instructions are given, and no previous knowledge of the stitch is required. Please note the pattern may not work with any other size and type of beads. There are 19 delica colours in total the finished beadwork is approximately 3.5cm x 3.75cm. 1 x 4mm 24kt Gold Plated bead is required as well as thin card, ideally white in colour. Additionally, a scalpel or scissors and ruler is required along with a paper glue such as 2 in 1 Glue Pen or Quick Stix Glue Stick and a small piece of permanent double-sided sticky tape. A no tangle thread bobbin is also useful. The bead pattern supplied is 18 pages and includes 28 step by step instructions along with templates and pre printed pages for the book, a word chart is also provided.
