The Merry Christmas Beaded Trinket Box Bead Pattern

Around the holidays the shops are full of festive tins full of lovely goodies. These tins are always so Christmassy and special that I wanted to design a beaded box that captured some of that essence and tried to squeeze in as much Christmassy-ness (is that a word?) as I could. So, what else could it be called than a Merry Christmas! Box. On the top of the box is a winter landscape scene with glistening snow. There are trees and a small cottage decorated in fairy lights, with a sleigh parked on the path outside. The whole scene is in a silver and white border, edged with holly leaves. The walls of the box contain a continuous geometric diamond decoration. On opening the box, the inside of the lid reads Merry Christmas, and on peering inside the box another little winter landscape scene of a snowman and Christmas tree is there to delight. This box is made using Round peyote and uses only delica beads. The shaping of the box is done as you go so there is no sewing two pieces of beadwork together and no awkward shaped edges to sew. As usual with ThreadABead featured patterns we give full detailed instructions and, in this pattern, there are 38 detailed steps, making this pattern even suitable for beginners to beading. This bead pattern is made using Japanese Miyuki size 11 Delica. A form of Round Peyote stitch is used but full detailed instructions are given, and no previous knowledge of the stitch is required. Please note the pattern may not work with any other size and type of beads. There are 22 delica colours in total for the stocking and the finished beadwork is approximately 7.25cm (w) x 5.25cm (d) 2.75cm (h). The use of a size 12 or 13 beading needle is optional. Some steps require you to add beads onto a peyote panel and it is easier to do this with a thinner needle than our usual Size 10 recommendation. The bead pattern supplied is 42 pages and includes 38 step by step photographic instructions. A colour word chart is provided where required.
