This year in the UK, the coronation of King Charles takes place on 6th May. The last one was over 70 years ago, meaning most of the population have never seen a coronation!
We thought we ought to celebrate this special occasion with a suitably grand piece of beadwork, and here it is! The King Charles III coronation vase….
On the vase is a scene from the coronation, with the golden carriage arriving at Westminster Abbey by horse, accompanied by the Scots guards. In the distance you can see the Elizabeth clock tower at the Houses of Parliament which holds the bell we all know as Big Ben. Even further in the distance is the London Eye, a more modern addition to the London Skyline.
At the bottom of the vase are the initials CR with the roman numerals III, signifying Charles Rex the third. And of course, as this is a royal celebration vase, the vase is topped with a lid featuring a golden crown.
In this pattern we give full detailed photographic and graphic instructions, and there are 38 detailed steps, making this pattern even suitable for beginners to beading.
This bead pattern is made using Japanese Miyuki size 11 Delica. Round Peyote stitch is used but full detailed instructions are given, and no previous knowledge of the stitch is required. Please note the pattern may not work with any other size and type of beads.
